History of the Back, Face and Body Place
The Back Face & Body Place Spa officially opened in Winchester, VA during Apple Blossom Festival May 6th 2004, by Pam Rolfs.
For over 25 years, Pam has studied therapeutic healing. Her greatest inspiration comes from her late father, Henry J. Rolfs; who did his very best to lead a healthful lifestyle. Pam grew up learning from her father about many alternative therapies that enhances our way of living and raises the quality of life and well-being.
“I became aware of Massage Therapy for physical health at a very young age. My father would go to Washington DC to the Watergate Spa for massage and many times he would have a professional masseuse come to our house.”
“When my brother and I were mature enough to understand the health benefits of massage, my father would offer it to us as well. I loved it! It felt great!

In 1980, Pam took her first classes in massage technique and reflexology at The Association for Research and Enlightenment in Virginia Beach, VA. “I learned that the human body is capable of healing, regeneration and restoration”
Through her quest to learn more about healing therapies, Pam has traveled worldwide to develop her skills. In 1990 she traveled to Bali, Indonesia to study healing with a group from the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Prior to her move to Winchester, VA, Pam practiced her massage and spa therapies in West Palm Beach ,Florida. Her private clients have included many prominent personalities including members of the Kennedy family.
Pam believes that massage/spa therapy is meant for everyone. She considers these therapies to be preventative medicine. By taking care of ourselves in this manner, we lower our blood pressure, increase our circulation and calm our nervous system.
Massage reduces chronic pain, swelling, scar tissue, and tension headaches. It improves skin and muscle tone, detoxifies the body, improves the immune system and brings about a general sense of Well-Being.
